Am 9. November jährt sich der Fall der Berliner Mauer zum 30. Mal. Aus diesem Anlass präsentiert das Goethe-Institut Montreal eine zeithistorische Ausstellung der Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur und der Zeitungen BILD und DIE WELT. 20 großformatige Plakate erzählen die Geschichte sowohl der Berliner Mauer als auch der innerdeutschen Grenze.

Die Ausstellung zeigt eindrückliche Fotos und Dokumente aus den Archiven der beiden Zeitungen. Themen sind das SED-Grenzregime und seine Opfer, Fluchten und Fluchthilfe, der Alltag entlang der innerdeutschen Grenze und in der geteilten Stadt sowie die glückliche Überwindung der Teilung mit der Friedlichen Revolution des Jahres 1989.

Une exposition sur l’histoire contemporaine

Le 9 novembre marque le 30e anniversaire de la chute du mur de Berlin. Pour l’occasion, le Goethe-Institut Montreal présente une exposition sur l’histoire contemporaine de la Fondation fédérale pour l'étude de la dictature du SED en Allemagne de l'Est, et des journaux BILD et DIE WELT.

20 affiches grand format racontent l’histoire du mur de Berlin et de la frontière intra-allemande. L’exposition présente des photos et des documents impressionnants provenant des archives des deux journaux. Les sujets abordés par l’exposition sont le régime frontalier de la dictature communiste en Allemagne de l’Est ainsi que ses victimes, les évasions et l’assistance à l’évasion, la vie quotidienne le long de la frontière germano-allemande et dans la ville divisée, ainsi que la fin heureuse de la division avec la révolution pacifique de 1989.

An exhibition on contemporary history

November 9th is the 30th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. On this occasion, the Goethe-Institut Montreal presents an exhibition on contemporary history produced by the Federal Foundation for the Study of Communist Dictatorship in East Germany and by the newspapers BILD and DIE WELT.

The history of the Berlin Wall and of the inner-German border is documented on 20 large-format posters. On display are a number of impressive photographs and documents from the two newspapers’ archives. Addressed themes are the GDR’s border regime and its victims, escape helpers and flight, everyday life along the inner-German border and within the partitioned city, as well as the joyful overcoming of Germany’s partition during the Peaceful Revolution in 1989.
