Psychogramm zweier ungewöhnlicher aber auch extrem unterschiedlicher Frauen, die eine, reich, exzentrisch, ihre Gefühle starr und maskenhaft verbergend, trinkt sich bewusst zu Tode, die andere, arm mit festen Plätzen, einschlägiger Erfahrung mit Trinkgeldbeschaffung, trinkt sich unbewusster zu Tode.

Le portrait de deux femmes inhabituelles et très différentes. L’une est riche, excentrique, cache ses sentiments derrière un masque et boit consciemment jusqu’à la mort. L’autre est une buveuse connue en ville. Au cours de l’histoire, les deux femmes tentent d’apprendre à se connaître, mais n’arrivent pas à se retrouver. La ville de Berlin sert d’arrière-plan et s’ouvre sur une sorte de curiosité grotesque (la géographie des buveurs), complétée par les témoignages authentiques de personnes qui y vivent ou sont de passage : chanteurs, écrivains, artistes, chauffeurs de taxi…

A portrait of two unusual, extremely different women. One rich, eccentric, hiding her feelings behind a mask, consciously drinks herself to death. The other is a known drinker in town. In the course of the story they try to get to know each other, but they cannot come together. The background is Berlin, thrown open to a grotesque kind of sightseeing (drinkers’ geography) and complemented by authentic contributions from people who live here or are visiting, singers, writers, artists, taxi drivers.
